Kid-Hacks for Chinese Language Day!

Happy Chinese Language Day! If you’re reading this there’s a good chance that you’re interested in helping your little one learn Chinese, and there are some fun ways to do it you may not have considered. Try some of these hacks and see your little one learn faster!

Kidhack 1:

Use flashcards to make learning 汉子 (hanzi) into a game. The learner competes with a parent to see who knows it better. WInner gets a prize (kisses, stickers, screen time, or your choice).

Kidhack 2:

Surround the child with Chinese; posters for the walls, books on the shelf, and pictures that help reinforce the language.

Kidhack 3:

Dedicated time speaking. If you are fortunate enough to have a native speaker in the home, set a time (or even a day) for speaking only Chinese. The time spent will help them solve language problems and remember more.

Kidhack 4:

Find friends in your local community that have similar goals. Community centers, libraries, and community colleges are good resources. Naturally some areas will be easier than others, but you can also set up times for video chats and pen letters too.

Kidhack 5:

Kid’s programs in Chinese are just as much fun to watch for young learners as are the ones in English. Popular series like Paw Patrol are available in Chinese and can help to make learning more fun.

However you learn, we at Wonder Owls wish you the best and a Happy Chinese Language Day. If you would like to learn more or share your suggestions with us, feel free to contact us, we’re happy to help!
