Happy Dr. Seuss Day!
The prolific children’s book author and illustrator Dr. Seuss is the star today, as millions of kids and parents appreciate the writer who launched imaginations. At Wonder Owls we adore Dr. Seuss for the whimsy and word play, and are proud to say - and we promise to keep the rhyme at bay - that the book sets of Seuss are a mainstay!
While even business trades laud the wisdom found in the books (Forbes, National Society of Leadership and Success), there is a particular benefit to these books that we’d like to share with parents and caregivers.
They help language learners.
For toddlers that are playing with words and how they sound, the tongue tumbling and mouth manipulations that are encouraged by Seuss’ books are wonderful ways to get kids talking. At the younger ages they may not be able to pick up on the jokes, but the sense of play and freedom with language will excite every child. Try one of the books out with your significant little one and I’m sure you’ll agree that they are fun for the reader too!
